STAND / VOLUME is posted! Vote!

image

Hello folks… it’s time once again for us to view the week’s art submissions.  I know what you are thinking… hey, where are the earwax sculptures?  Where are the edamame pod mosaics? Where can I find a good used tissue ceramic ash tray?  Well, none of these will appear in this week’s art submissions, but we can all hope that someone out there, with all their talents, will come to the table with a great quick dry cement scupture soon… or a photograph made with one of those crazy old disposable cameras…

In the meantime, we can all view and vote on this week’s submissions.  A big shout out to this week’s newbie Brian!  SHOUT!

Next week’s words will be:

LOWBROW / MARBLE

Now get on out there this weekend and make something cool, eh?  You only live once, twice if you’re Buddhist.

Without further doo doo, here are this week’s submissions for STAND / VOLUME.  Enjoy!

Winner… get your winner here…

Moooo

Well well well… It was a sparse week as far as submissions went last week… With that being said… Wurm, you got 44% of the votes you lucky bastard, so I guess that makes you this week’s winner!  You owe the blog 2 words by Friday for next week’s words.  Now get on it!

In the meantime, why not start conceptualizing something for this week’s words:
BLANKET / FLIGHT

Here are some exhilarating wiki entries and a few inspiring videos for your brain to think upon… see you all on Friday for the art!

BLANKET

File:Lautrec in bed 1893.jpg

A blanket is a type of bedding, generally speaking, a large piece of cloth, intended to keep the user warm, especially while sleeping. Blankets are distinguished from sheets by their thickness and purpose; the thickest sheet is still thinner than the lightest blanket.

Blankets are generally used for warmth, while sheets are for hygiene, comfort and aesthetics. Blankets are subdivided into many types, including quilts, duvets, and comforters, depending on their thickness, construction and/or fill material. Electric blankets are heated by electricity.

Blankets were traditionally made of wool because of wool's warmth, breathability and natural fire-retardant properties, while sheets were made of cotton or linen, which are less irritating to the skin. Nowadays, synthetic fibers are frequently used for both. Throw blankets are smaller blankets, often in decorative colors and patterns, that can be used for extra warmth outside of bed. Blankets are sometimes used as comfort objects by small children.

FLIGHT

File:Stripe-tailed Hummingbird.jpg

Flight is the process by which an object moves, through an atmosphere (especially the air) or beyond it (as in the case of spaceflight), by generating aerodynamic lift, propulsive thrust, aerostatically using buoyancy, or by ballistic movement, without direct support from any surface.

Many things fly, from natural aviators such as birds, bats and insects to human inventions such as missiles, aircraft such as airplanes, helicopters and balloons, to rockets such as spacecraft.

The engineering aspects of flight are studied in aerospace engineering which is subdivided into aeronautics, the study of vehicles that travel through the air, and astronautics, the study of vehicles that travel through space, and in ballistics, the study of the flight of projectiles.

Hey fellas and fellettes… The UNICORN / JURASSIC art has been posted below.  So vote, eh?  Thanks to all those that threw in this week, especially Wurm’s kids, the newbies!  Hey, don’t let their young ages sway you… vote for the very best submission, in your own opinion… it won’t help anyone if they win just cuz they’re young and cute and their egos are boosted and they go on to save the world by creating a new type of paint that accidentally spills into their drink and is found to cure the common cold and they go on to win the Nobel Peace Prize and inspire world peace…  heh heh… that escalated quickly…

Anyway, here are next week’s words, in case you want to get a jump on your submission:
