WINE/HORN art is up, and an announcement…

Hello all, it is that time again. But before we get down to this week’s art and voting, it is with great happiness and sorrow we bring you two announcements:

Next week’s challuunge is is the 100th challuunge here at the old R-WAC and we wanted to do something special. So it has been decided that for next week’s words we will offer up 100 random words for you to chose from. That’s right, you can chose one, or two or ten or all 100. However you like to slice it. We hope that participation goes up this week as you may have noticed it’s been a bit sparse as of late. Which brings us to our next announcement:
Art challuunge will be ending after next week’s challuunge. That’s right folks, this will be the last and final week for Art Challuunge as you have come to know it. We are going out of business and everything must go! So if you ever wanted to participate and create something for bragging rights or just cuz, NEXT week is the week to do it. Let’s see if we can get the most submissions we have ever had. Spread the word. Send it to everyone you know and be as creative as you wanna be! I hope you all have enjoyed R-WAC as much as we have enjoyed presenting it to you.

Art Challuunge’s 100th challuunge is coming…

That’s right folks, NEXT week’s challuunge will be our 100th Random Words Art Challuunge post. It’s exciting how far we’ve come. There have been ebbs and flows along the way but we have been resilient, haven’t we. Meanwhile… when we last left our dastardly R-WAC crew, we were awaiting the submissions for Terra / Plasma. Little did anyone suspect the turn out for one of the strangest set of words would prove to increase significantly from weeks gone by. Never-the-less R-WAC was poised with the challuunge and had to post up the art and get the ballot for voting stamped. They owed it to the followers, the blog watchers, the lovers of all things random. All of the viewers were waiting with baited breath as the 2 o’clock hour approached. All of a sudden, as if by chance, the blog erupted with the posted artwork, as if the atom bomb it self had paid a visit to the ever growing blog of random words… and the voting would be fierce, my dear friends… Oh yes. The voting… would… be… fierce.

Time to grab a pen, or pencil, or crayon, or quill, or some other writing utensil, and do up a submission for HELICOPTER / HIGHLANDER. I mean if you aren’t doing anything for lunch other than eating some food, why not bust out a sketch or two? You could even visit the interwebs and Photoshop yourself a funny or exciting picture. Take that napkin that you used to dab the barbeque sauce from the corner of your mouth and fold it into a creative origami piece. Instead of spitting out your gum today, why not mold it into a master piece sculpture that the whole world will envy. Cassowary: World’s most dangerous bird

According to the Guinness Book of Records, the Cassowaries are the world’s most dangerous birds, capable of dealing fatal blows. They are very unpredictable, aggressive creatures, especially if wounded or cornered. The Cassowary lives in the rain forests of Australia and New Guinea and are actually pretty shy animals if undisturbed, but if you get to close and it thinks you’re a threat you could receive a bone-breaking kick or get sliced by its dagger-like sharp claws. During WWII, soldiers stationed in New Guinea were warned to stay away from these birds, but some of them still became victims. The Cassowary is also one of the most difficult animals to keep in the Zoo because of the frequent injuries suffered by Zoo keepers that look after them.

So, scratching your head as to what to do for this week’s words: HAMPSTER / LEPRECHAUN? Well fear not, for we here at the art challuunge would like to share some history of both of these words. Hamster(s) are rodents belonging to the subfamily Cricetinae. The subfamily contains about 25 species, classified in six or seven genera.
Hamsters are crepuscular. In the wild, they burrow underground in the daylight to avoid being caught by predators. Their diet includes a variety of foods, including dried food, berries, nuts, fresh fruits and vegetables. In the wild they feed primarily on seeds, fruits and greens, and will occasionally eat burrowing insects. They have an elongated pouch on each side of their heads that extend to their shoulders, which they stuff full of food to be stored, brought back to the colony or to be eaten later.
Although the Golden Hamster (Mesocricetus auratus) was first described scientifically in 1839, it was not until 1930 that researchers were able to successfully breed and domesticate hamsters. Pet Golden Hamsters are descended from hamsters first found and captured in Syria by zoologist Israel Aharoni.
Hamster behavior can vary depending on their environment, genetics, and interaction with people. Because they are easy to breed in captivity, hamsters are often used as lab animals in more economically developed countries. Hamsters have also become established as popular small house pets.
